ACC&D was formed to facilitate development of non-surgical contraceptive methods of pet population control. While potential opportunities for this technology have existed for decades, a lack of funding at critical development phases has stalled progress in this important field.
We work closely with scientists from around the globe to identify and support promising approaches to non-surgical contraception for cats and dogs. With directors and advisors who are experts in the fields of animal health product development, academia, animal contraception, veterinary medicine, animal welfare and pet population management, ACC&D is uniquely positioned to identify approaches with the greatest promise for effective population control. ACC&D works in a strategic partnership with the Found Animals Foundation, sponsor of the Michelson Prize and Grants in Reproductive Biology.
By forming strategic partnerships with holders of these technologies, we can expedite their development and help insure their impact. The use of public/private partnerships to advance pharmaceutical development for key causes is increasingly common. The Wall Street Journal discusses this trend in the article “Why Nonprofits Fund For-Profit Companies Doing Drug Research.”
ACC&D is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. We welcome you to contact us to learn more about how you can be involved in this vital work. You can reach us at info@acc-d.org or (503) 358-1438.
Please join our email update list (sign-up box on right) so that we can update you about exciting progress in this field.
When we have new tools for population control, we’ll be able to save the lives of countless dogs and cats in the U.S. and around the world!
