Academic Research
ACC&D was founded by Drs Henry Baker, Stephen Boyle and Brenda Griffin, accomplished research scientists passionate about the need for and real potential of non-surgical pet contraceptives. We work closely with scientists from around the globe to identify and support the most promising approaches through strategies such as filling critical funding gaps during early and middle stage development and advising potential donors and investors.
Our ability to assess new approaches with such expertise allows us to serve as a bridge between scientists and other stakeholders: funders, pet keepers, animal welfare advocates, and veterinarians. Our directors and advisors include:
-
Dr. Linda Rhodes, founding partner of AlcheraBio, a consulting firm specializing in working with biotechnology companies to develop opportunities in animal health
-
Dr. Stephen Boyle, professor of microbiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology at the University of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine
-
Dr. Wolfgang Jöchle, accomplished theriogenologist, animal health product innovator and founder of the journal Theriogenology
-
And other respected experts in related fields (click here to meet our board, scientific advisors, and staff)
ACC&D has held three international symposia featuring the most recent science in this field. Please see the Symposium Proceedings for session summaries, abstracts, and presentation materials from scientific sessions, information on population management, and the need and opportunities for non-surgical contraceptives, and action plans for rapid progress in the field.
ACC&D welcomes inquiries from scientists working on approaches for non-surgical pet contraception, particularly those that meet (or have potential to meet) our organization’s priorities for pet population control products. You can reach us at info@acc-d.org or -503-358-1438.
Please join our email list (sign-up box on right) to receive updates on progress in the field, funding opportunities, and ACC&D developments.
