Academic Research
ACC&D was founded by Drs. Henry Baker, Stephen Boyle and Brenda Griffin, accomplished research scientists passionate about the need for and real potential of non-surgical pet contraceptives. We work closely with scientists from around the globe to identify and support the most promising approaches.
ACC&D is working in a strategic partnership with the Found Animals Foundation (FAF) on their $75 million Michelson Prize and Grants program. FAF is offering a $25 million prize to the first entitity to provide a single-dose sterilant for male and female cats and dogs. Additionally, up to $50 million will be distributed in grants to advance research on promising technologies. Click here to learn more about this exciting initiative.
Our ability to assess new approaches with such expertise allows us to serve as a bridge between scientists and other stakeholders: funders, pet keepers, animal welfare advocates, and veterinarians. Click here to meet our directors and scientific advisors.
ACC&D has held three international symposia featuring the most recent science in this field. Please see the Symposium Proceedings for session summaries, abstracts, and presentation materials from scientific sessions, information on population management, and the need and opportunities for non-surgical contraceptives, and action plans for rapid progress in the field. Our 4th International Symposium on Non-Surgical Contraceptive Methods of Pet Population Control will be held April 8-10, 2010, in Dallas, Texas, USA. Subscribe to our e-mail updates (sign-up box on right) or e-mail us at info@acc-d.org to learn more about this exciting event.
ACC&D welcomes inquiries from scientists working on-or interested in working on-approaches to non-surgical pet contraception. You can reach us at info@acc-d.org or 503-358-1438.
