Dr. Lauren Overman is a Senior Director for the Shelter Medicine Services (SMS) team at the ASPCA. Within her role on the SMS team, Dr. Overman advises and consults with internal ASPCA teams and also provides consultation for external sheltering organizations all across the country on topics like infectious disease, population management and best shelter practices.
Dr. Overman received her DVM from the University of California, Davis and completed a shelter medicine internship at Oregon Humane Society in Portland, OR. Previous to her role at the ASPCA, she was the Vice President of Veterinary Services at Humane Society for Southwest Washington in Vancouver, WA for 10 years. She recently achieved Board Certification in Shelter Medicine through ABVP and also serves on the board for ASV (Association of Shelter Veterinarians). She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, two human children, tiny dog and large cat.
