Consider Donating to ACC&D Through Your Donor-Advised Fund

When you contribute to a donor-advised fund, you can take advantage of immediate tax benefits while retaining the ability to recommend grants to charities over time, such as the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs (ACC&D). Consider using a donor-advised fund to make your charitable giving to ACC&D more strategic, flexible, and impactful, for today and the future.

What Is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that makes it easy to support organizations you care about, like the Alliance for Contraception in Cats & Dogs (ACC&D). You can contribute cash, stocks, or other eligible assets to a DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. The funds can be invested for tax-free growth, allowing your charitable dollars to grow over time.

DAFs are one of the simplest and fastest-growing charitable giving options because they offer a simple, flexible, and instant tax-efficient way to support qualified 501(c)(3) charities such as ACC&D.

5 Ways That Donor-Advised Funds Work

  1. To establish a DAF, you need to make an irrevocable, tax-deductible contribution to a sponsoring organization, community foundation, or financial institution. Contributions may include cash, stocks, real estate, or other eligible assets. Once you deposit funds into your DAF, you will receive a tax receipt and tax benefits.

  2. When your charitable funds are invested, the DAF sponsoring organization manages the assets in your account, as they have the potential to grow tax-free.

  3. Although the assets in your DAF legally belong to the sponsoring organization, as the DAF account holder, you reserve advisory privileges over distributions made from the DAF and the investment strategy over the assets in your DAF account.

  4. As the DAF account holder, you can support the charities you care about by recommending one-time or recurring grants to eligible charitable organizations such as ACC&D.

  5. Once the DAF sponsoring organization reviews and approves the recommendation, the grant is distributed directly to ACC&D.
