Gary Evans; President
Gary Evans is dedicated to transforming our ability to humanely manage cat and dog populations on a global scale. With expertise in strategy, operations, technology, and communications, he works to develop scalable solutions to reduce animal suffering and preventable deaths while improving human-animal interactions.
Gary's unique vantage point was forged through a background spanning two distinct but complementary worlds: the enterprise software industry and the front lines of clinical animal care. As a former technology entrepreneur, he mastered the art of designing, building, and managing scalable software platforms while driving strategic growth. Later, as the director of a large, high-volume veterinary hospital, he gained firsthand experience in the operational and fiscal challenges of delivering care at scale.
This combination of skills allows Gary to bridge the gap between the lab and the field. As president of the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs (ACC&D) he is a leading advocate for non-surgical sterilization, recognizing that transformative change in animal welfare requires making safe, effective, evidence-based, and affordable solutions accessible to the communities that need them most. Gary excels at translating complex technical and regulatory hurdles into actionable strategies that move projects from concept to widespread implementation.
In addition to his role at ACC&D, Gary serves as board chair of Let’s Save the Strays, a locally run organization dedicated to CNVR in Myanmar. He also serves on the boards of Leuk’s Landing in Ann Arbor, MI, and is a past chair of the Training and Education Committee for the Michigan Pet Alliance.
Gary lives in Ann Arbor with his wife, their rescue cats, and Ezra the dog. A published author, his interests include literature, history, music, and science. He is particularly interested in exploring how emerging technology can be harnessed as a force for good.
